Technology Strategy for Measuring Canvas Content Effectiveness and Student Engagement
Background
The University of Delaware Career Center (UDCC) offers two self-paced, non-credit career development courses via Canvas to support undergraduate and graduate students in building professional skills and preparing for future careers. These courses are widely appreciated by students for their flexibility and relevance, but due to their non-credit, self-guided format, UDCC currently faces challenges in measuring student engagement, content effectiveness, and learning outcomes.
Process
The UDCC aims to improve its understanding of student engagement and learning outcomes by:
- Analyzing how users interact with course pages.
- Evaluating if students are achieving learning objectives for each module.
- Unifying analytics from Canvas and third-party tools into a single dashboard for comprehensive assessment.
Results
To address these gaps, specific recommendations are made to meet each of the three objectives, ensuring a structured approach to technology integration and data use.
